A way of life.

For me, gardening is a way of life - not a job and definitely not a chore. I feel connected to the earth when I have my hands deep in soil. I believe most of us feel calm, centred and connected when we are in nature. More and more people are wanting to get ‘back to the land.’ And why not? Gardening and backyard farming is a small and sustainable way for all of us to contribute to the environment. In a time when we feel disconnected and disempowered by a lack of action on reducing pollution to our planet, being in nature - whether it’s camping in the wilderness or tending to our lawn - reestablishes that missing link.

For me, personally too, I feel connected to the land through my indigenous ancestors - the Garigal & Dharug people. The Indigenous people of Australia have always believed that humans are not separate from the earth - that whilst we feel separate, like all living beings, we came from the earth.

I have been running my landscaping business Wilder now for sometime now and it has strengthened all of these core beliefs. The more time I spend on the land - working with the earth - the more centred and stronger I become. That’s a philosophy that I want to share with everyone and I think most people would agree that we are desperate for a new way of life. We’re desperate to get back to our own true nature.
